Photographs of a So Cal Totoro

P1000026P1000025P1000024Husband picked this cherimoya from our tree and brought it inside. The resemblance was unmistakable. He’s now sitting on our counter in the kitchen surveying kittens and cats and all. Memories of the kids watching ‘My Neighbor Totoro’ abound– if you haven’t seen that 1988 Miyazaki masterpiece I recommend it heartily. It has a slow and gentle build, the details of rain are utterly lovely and the magic of trust and imagination compel. Not only for kids.

  1. Oh that is so funny – yes! It looks a lot like Totoro! (We’re Totoro fans, here.)

  2. I still dream of the Catbus, its warm comfort and the images of it running over the rice fields with the leaves and stems all bending! Nuanced, oh yes!
